OBJECTIVE:  For each student to comprehend and be able to apply the basic principles of pavement technology and Quality Control/Quality Assurance to airfield pavement inspection.

DESCRIPTION:  This course increases student's ability to implement quality assurance/quality control measures during the design and construction of airfield pavements. The course is based on Unified Facility Guide Specifications (UFGS). It draws from industry standard pavement construction practices and applies them to Air Force airfield projects. The course is broken into four general areas. These include general inspection and contract management, aggregate fundamentals, asphalt mix design and paving operations, and concrete mix design and paving operations. Comprehensive case studies and quizzes provide reinforcement of the material covered in the classroom. The course includes reading, homework and quizzes.
NOTE: This course is designed for individuals who are directly involved with the inspection of airfield pavement construction/repair projects. The course is not intended for those performing in-house pavement repairs. However, the information learned in the course is useful for anybody performing any type of pavement inspection or construction.
