Who can attend?

Courses offered by The Civil Engineer School (TCES) are available to all military and civilian employees of the US government. AFIT pays travel and per diem for employees of the Active Duty Air Force, Air Force Civilians and ANG military (environmental courses only) who have been given a seat in a designated course.

Students from Sister Services and other federal agencies may be charged tuition according to the "AFIT Graduate and Professional Continuing Education Business Plan for Tuition Reimbursement." Tuition rates are determined each fiscal year per "Tuition Cost Methodology for AFIT Graduate Education." The unit will also be responsible for the student's travel and per diem expenses. For current tuition rates and other information, please contact our course managers at AFIT.CE.CMC@us.af.mil

Contractors associated with the DoD may also attend on a space available basis if their administrative Contracting Officer Representative agrees. AFIT charges tuition for contractor attendance. The Contracting Company/Firm will be responsible for the student's travel and per diem expenses.

How do I register?

A list of courses provided by TCES is located on the Course Catalog page. The enrollment window for all TCES courses opens 90 days before the course offering start date. Course offering enrollment window for Resident and On-site courses closes 21 days before the class start date, and Online and Live Broadcast courses closes 14 days before the class start date. Seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis for primary audience members, followed by secondary audience members. Each course is designed for a specific audience and many courses require prerequisites and/or education requirements. It is important to read through the description carefully to ensure the course is suitable for your needs.

It is important to apply early during the registration period. The application form collects all the information needed to process an application however additional paperwork may be required from registrants. Contractors may attend courses on a space-available basis and should follow the Contractor enrollment process.

TCES students will register through the Air University Learner Portal. The registration process has two steps:

  1. Submit a course application for the fiscal year you plan to attend.
  2. After approval, select and book the specific course offering you wish to attend. Be mindful of the enrollment window if you have a preferred course session. If you are outside the enrollment window, the course offering will not be an option to book in the AU Learner Portal.

We look forward to your participation!
