Requesting a Civil Engineer Course or Seminar at Your Location

What is the On-Site Program?
The On-Site Program provides continuing education and/or consultation to personnel at their home base.  The advantages of this educational program include: 

1. A reduced amount of time students must be away from their jobs.
2. Accommodate student time zones as USAFE and PACAF personnel often take Eastern Time satellite-based classes after their normal duty hours.
3. Reduced transportation and per diem costs.
4. Education and consultation that can be tailored to your individual installation as required.
5. Accessibility of our courses to a larger number of students who may not otherwise be able to attend our resident courses.

What are the costs involved with an on-site?
The costs involved with an on-site are reproduction of the educational materials for each student as well as funding for any instructor(s) travel.  The requesting installation typically covers these costs. 

What do I need to do to request an on-site?

1. The first step is to review the courses offered by AFIT/CES (see “Course Catalog” menu).
   
   You can find courses in Environmental Management, Engineering Management and Housing which will be listed under twelve separate portfolios.  Click on the course you are interested in and at the bottom of the page there will be a “Contact Us” button.  Click on the button and an e-mail will be sent to the appropriate course director to let him/her know that you are interested in an on-site.  The course director will contact you for more details.  (Note:  on-sites can be done for almost any course offered by our school).
    
2. The next step is for the course director to work with you on a date that their schedule. Once the date is agreed upon, the course director will work with you closely for more details on scheduling the on-site.

What is the installation role in setting up the on-site?
In most cases, the individual requesting the on-site is the point of contact that our course director will work with in setting up logistics for the on-site.  This person’s duties will include typical things such as: handling reproduction of course material, securing a classroom to hold the on-site, arranging billeting reservations for AFIT/CES instructor(s), and providing a roster of students.  The CE School will enroll all students.  If there are any contractors among the students, they will have to tuition to attend.  The “Information for Students” menu on the The CE School website provides more specifics.
