New Course Catalog Course Description

COURSE: WMSS 501 Principles and Practice of Engineering (P.E.) Exam Preparatory Seminar

OBJECTIVE:  For each student to access quality preparatory material to pass the Principles and Practice of Engineering (P.E.) exam. Students who take this preparatory seminar should intend to take the PE exam within 1 year of completing their study material.
DESCRIPTION: 

Students will gain access to reputable, third-party preparatory material for the Principles and Practice of Engineering (P.E.) exam, any discipline. After applying, students will be provided an access code to the prep materials. Upon activation, students have 1-year of access. Funding for this seminar is based in the current Fiscal Year, so students need to ensure they activate their access code before 30 September of the FY that they apply.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Members can only take WMSS 501 Principles and Practices of Engineering (P.E.) Exam Preparatory Seminar OR WMSS 500, Project Management Professional (PMP)® Exam Preparatory Seminar once during their career. Must be an Active-Duty 32E, AFRC 32E on Title 10 orders, or Regular Air Force Civilians in the Civil Engineer Career Field who meet the prerequisites below.

PRIMARY AUDIENCE:  Active-Duty Civil Engineer Officers
SECONDARY AUDIENCE:  None. Other audiences may be considered in future offerings
PREREQUISITES:

No prerequisites for Active Duty 32Es or AFRC 32Es (AFRC 32Es must be on Title 10 Orders). Civilian Prerequisites below.

ADDITIONAL CIVILIAN PREREQUISITES:

  1. Must provide one of the following:
    1. Documentation of current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI) or Engineering in Training (EIT)
    2. Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico
    3. Registration confirmation to sit for a P.E. exam
    4. Documentation the individual meets the eligibility requirements determined by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico to sit for the exam.
  2. Must have at least 2 years of Federal Civilian Service
  3. Must have an acceptable performance rating of 3.
  4. Must be a permanent employee within the CE Career Field
  5. Priority will be given to Civilians who have been vectored to obtain a Tier I professional credential
