OBJECTIVE:  This course seeks to increase general environmental awareness and how UECs act as a team with base environmental management within the framework of an Environmental Management System. Each student should comprehend the daily environmental requirements of a USAF organization and what it takes to communicate and orchestrate these requirements both within and outside their organization.

DESCRIPTION:  This course equips Unit Environmental Coordinators (UECs) to maintain and improve environmental compliance and performance within their organizations, recognize and address problems when they occur, and act as points of contact for environmental issues concerning their organization (in accordance with Air Force Guidance). Key topics discussed include UEC roles and responsibilities, overview of Air Force Environmental Management Systems, and introduction to key organizations active in environmental management. Additionally, the course will discuss key functional responsibilities including the management of hazardous materials and waste, air and water resources, tanks and POL, spill management, natural and cultural resources, integrated solid waste, and toxic substances.

PRIMARY AUDIENCE:  Current or anticipated appointment as primary or alternate Unit Environmental Coordinator or equivalent, Installation Legal/Bioenvironmental or Safety Office personnel, Superintendent from LRS, CE or Aircraft Maintenance, or Fire Department Supervisor.

SECONDARY AUDIENCE:  Supervisor of operations with potential environmental impact, a cross-functional team member, IG or Wing Inspection Team (WIT) personnel, Public Affairs, Contracting personnel, and Fire Department or LRS HAZMAT personnel
