The purpose of these QMT courses is to provide you with
specialized technical skills that you can apply to your job.
As you go through the courses, you will explore key
concepts and procedures involved in preparing Air Force
cost estimates for weapon and information systems.
A functional assessment of the cost career field identified
critical knowledge gaps that became the genesis of the
QMT course learning objectives.
This course is designed to fill those identified “gaps” in
Air Force cost analyst knowledge as well as to ensure
integration of key cost analysis concepts into one set of
course material.
Several hands-on exercises are based on actual Air
Force programs. They will challenge you to work towards
a logical solution to a cost estimating problem.
In these exercises, you’ll confront actual issues faced by
these programs as well as other typical problems faced
by cost analysts in their daily jobs.
Beyond becoming familiar with the processes and tools
used to prepare Air Force cost estimates, you’ll also
learn about potential pitfalls you might encounter, and
how to overcome those obstacles.
This major theme throughout the QMT courses is to give
students tools and techniques to overcome challenges
such as estimating with uncertain requirements and
technical baselines, lack of cost data, inadequate
program risk assessments, and properly translating a
cost estimate into a program budget.
Once you complete the course, whether you plan to use
this as a refresher of your existing skills or perhaps
you’re learning some of these concepts for the very first
time, you’ll have a greater depth of understanding and
current knowledge of the topics important to the Air Force
cost estimating community.
I wish you the best in your cost analysis endeavors and
success in your Air Force career.
