Video Transcript
Welcome to SYS 114, Acquisition Incident Review. The overall goal for the course is to know the Acquisition Incident Review (AIR) Process, desired outcomes, key players, and their roles and responsibilities.
Air Force Materiel Command has recognized the acquisition community would benefit individually, and collectively, if a standardized process was established to help programs affected by cost, schedule, and/or performance issues.
The AIR Process was initiated to fill the need for evaluating and assessing troubled programs by appointing a dedicated team of experts to conduct a review. That team defines and documents critical program issues, finds root causes, and subsequently provides specific and systemic recommendations to address the issues.
These activities will be well documented and published to a centralized database and provided as exemplars to the acquisition workforce in order to provide a consolidated source of lessons learned for future efforts.
At the end of this course each student will know:
• The background and governing principles of AIR.
• The characteristics and desired results of AIRs.
• Insights on the Acquisition Incident Review Process via interviews with past AIR Officers.
• Know what tools past AIR Officers developed and used during the Process.
