Video Transcript
Welcome everyone, I’m Maj Jeffery King an instructor of Systems Engineering here at the Air Force Institute of Technology, School of Systems and Logistics. Thanks for your interest in WKSP0696 Applied Model-Based Systems Engineering using the Systems Modeling Language. This foundational workshop will review what Digital means and introduce you the three pillars of MBSE – methods, languages, and tools. You will learn how to create and use a system model by implementing the Object-Oriented System Engineering Method (OOSEM) to generate a descriptive model of a small Unmanned Aerial Vehicle using SysML and the CATIA Magic Systems of Systems Architect tool (similar to Cameo Systems Modeler). With access to the tool, this workshop provides a hands-on experience through a set of small exercises including concept refinement, definition, requirements extraction/analysis, trade study analysis, performance modeling and impact analysis. What does all that mean? Our goal for this workshop is that upon completion, you will be able to interpret rudimentary models in support of programmatic decisions. To take this workshop, there are no prerequisites and you are not required to have any previous experience or exposure to MBSE or SysML prior to attending. Our instructional videos will walk you through all 9 SysML diagrams, what they mean, and how to use them. This workshop is self-paced and usually takes about 16 hours to complete. Throughout the event, an instructor will be monitoring the given communication channels to help answer any questions.
