Greetings, I’m Doug Buchy and I am the Course Director for the new Defense Business Systems (DBS) Workshop. What is the DBS Workshop you say? Well, the DBS Workshop is designed to provide valuable educational material for the mid-grade DBS program management office (PMO) staff. This educational experience includes an overview of the current DBS environment, a look into DOD and USAF transformation policies, a detailed view of the latest DODI 5000.75 Change 2 dated January 24, 2020, and a class exercise exploring the successful acquisition of Contracting Information Technology System (CON-IT) through the viewpoint of the CON-IT PMO staff. Tailoring is a key directive in DODI 5000.75 and the instruction provides the tailoring framework for acquisition and business decisions in the life cycle to contribute to successful delivery of business capabilities including software intensive programs. This workshop will provide the government program manager with a new and expanded toolkit that will assist in successful navigation of the business capability acquisition cycle (BCAC).
