Nuclear 252: Air Force Nuclear Concepts and Insights Course

Nuclear 252 is an upper-intermediate level nuclear professional continuing education (PCE) course designed to further development of Nuclear Mission Professionals who have a fundamental awareness of nuclear weapons and policy. Its SECRET/CNWDI/RD curriculum fills in knowledge gaps by improving Nuclear Enterprise and deterrence acumen that cannot be accomplished in an UNCLASSIFIED remote learning environment.

Course Length: 2 weeks (10 hrs)

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Nuclear 250 or Nuclear 251

Enrollment Type: First-come, first served (with exceptions)

Location: SIPRnet

Upon completion of the course, students will achieve an upper-intermediate/ intermediate-plus level of proficiency and broad understanding of the the Global Nuclear Landscape; Nuclear Stockpile; Nuclear Force Structure and role of U.S. Strategic Command; Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications; and Conventional Nuclear Integration and Joint All Domain Command and Control. In conjunction with the Nuclear 250 course, Nuclear 252 may serve as a separate awareness and education offering or as a prerequisite to the Nuclear College’s in-residence Nuclear 300 course.

Registration Process:

  1. Send an email to afit.ol-a.registrar@us.af.mil to request a quota allocation. To enroll, you must have: 1) successfully completed Nuclear 250 or Nuclear 251; 2) an active SECRET security clearance and CNWDI/RD access or CNWDI/RD read-in from your Security Manager; 3) SIPRnet computer access; and 4) MAJCOM training manager consent and supervisor/commander approval.
  2. You must plan for 10 hours over 2 weeks when you will require SIPRnet computer access to complete the coursework. Nuclear 252 is executed through the Air Force Nuclear College SIPRnet SharePoint website. Instruction is provided by means of recorded presentations or videos and various readings from books and SIPRnet sources. Knowledge checks, in the form of quizzes, evaluate student learning.
  3. Upon successfully completing the course, you will receive a certificate.
