Here you will find general student information to assist with settling into the Graduate School of Engineering and Management.
Canvas is the Learning Management System (LMS) which provides an area for instructors and students to post and view course information, submit homework, view course lectures, etc. Generally speaking, all the courses in your program will depend heavily on Canvas to distribute information and announcements.
Your Canvas account will automatically be created as part of you becoming active in the program. You will receive an email with your account information once your account has been created.
Your course(s) will show up after you are enrolled in Canvas AND the instructor publishes the course. You may not see it until the first or second day of the term. Once logged into Canvas, you will need to click on “Courses” and then select “All Courses”.
Registering for courses, called Booking, is completed through the AU Learner Portal. The site is CAC restricted, but available anytime world-wide.
There may be situations where course booking cannot be done through the AU Learner Portal due to various conditions. In such cases a Drop/Add form will be required.

The D’Azzo Research Library located on the AFIT campus provides full-service support for students of the graduate school. Visit their site at https://www.afit.edu/LIBRARY/
AFIT has its own educational computer network (AFIT.edu) that may be needed while in student status. All approved in-residence students attending full-time will have access to the AFIT.edu network. All others are on a case-by-case basis and should be requested through your academic department who will verify access needs.
If you are not a full-time student, you will likely not need an AFIT.edu account. Please see the following topics:
