The Financial Assistance Program (FAP) is an Air Force initiative designed to provide financial assistance to medical residents (MD/DO), who are physically and academically qualified to become AF officers and desire to join the Air Force Medical Corps. During residency, the Air Force provides a monthly stipend and yearly bonus in exchange for an active duty service obligation within the US Air Force Medical Service after graduation from residency. The program is governed by Air Force Instruction (AFI) 41-110, Medical Health Care Professions Scholarship Programs.
If you are a civilian interested in information regarding the FAP (e.g. available quotas, application and qualification requirements, etc.); you must contact your nearest Air Force Health Professions Recruiter. You can locate this individual at the Air Force Recruiting Service homepage at http://www.airforce.com. Select “Contact Us” and then “Advisor Locator”. At the advisor locator change the “Category” to “Health Professions” and then enter your address or zip code.
