Combat Logistics is a theater level, joint logistics course that examines how the Department of Defense executes logistics to sustain forces across the globe and over the full range of military operations. Our course will explore topics such as Global Distribution, the Global Security Environment, Joint Operations, Multi-national Operations and Logistics, Peace Operations, Sister-Service Re-Supply Methods, and the role Commercial and Non-Government entities play in the contingency supply chain. The class is designed for Company Grade Officers, Non-Commissioned Officers, and Civilians operating in our logistics and maintenance career fields. Log 299 is not a technical training course – it is a continuing education course that builds on students’ existing experience and knowledge. We challenge our students to think beyond their career fields and place them in scenarios that demand teamwork across specialties and branch-affiliation to examine operations, extract logistical shortfalls, and identify solutions. Students will learn the joint operational and logistical principles, the key terminology such as the classes of supply and joint logistics functions, the different logistical capabilities that sister-services bring to the joint fight, and apply them to better understand supply chain components and gaps. The course will culminate with a capstone exercise where students will apply their new-found knowledge and logistical paradigms to support a joint, contingency scenario.
