The Air Force Analytic Community’s coveted Analysis/Lessons Learned Lifetime Achievement Award (A2L2 Award) has been awarded to Department of Operational Sciences faculty members for the last three years.
Most, recently, on October 23, 2011, in a formal evening ceremony held at the National Museum of the United States Air Force, Ms. Carolyn Moore accepted this prestigious award on the behalf of her father, Dr. James T. Moore, Professor of Operations Research. During his career at AFIT, which began in 1990, he published in the most influential journals in his field, graduated 114 doctoral and Master’s research students, and developed five widely taken courses, including a one-of-a-kind course in Mobility Modeling. As a recognized expert in mobility modeling, he spearheaded a number of high-level, high-visibility research initiatives that significantly enhanced the application of aerospace power positively impacting Air Force Rapid Global Mobility in the areas of aircraft loading and theater distribution – and resulted in award winning journal articles. Because of his expertise and research credentials, Dr. Moore was handpicked by TRANSCOM to lead on-going multi-year Deployment and Distribution Research Proposal funded at $500K per year. Dr. Moore has also served as Interim Department Head on two separate occasions during his AFIT tenure.
Dr. Kenneth W. Bauer, Jr., Professor of Operations Research, was awarded the A2L2 Lifetime Achievement Award on December 8, 2010, at the A2L2 Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Richard F. Deckro, Professor of Operations Research received the A2L2 Lifetime Achievement Award during Air Force Analysis, Assessment and Lessons Learned Symposium awards banquet held at San Antonio, Texas on Nov 18, 2009.
