Dr. Raymond R. Hill, Jr., Professor of Operations Research, was awarded the prestigious Gage H. Crocker Outstanding Professor Award for 2010 at a June 23, 2011, presentation by AFIT Commandant Major General Walter D. Givhan. This award is given to the individual who made the most significant contribution to the AFIT mission during the preceding 1 Jan – 31 Dec period. Considerations for this award include excellence in teaching, curriculum development, educational innovation, consulting, research and other achievements which enhance or contribute to maintaining the excellence of AFIT programs. During the award period, Dr. Hill was ranked #1 of 20 department faculty in teaching and overall professor rating. He graduated four students as research advisor, published five peer-reviewed scholarly papers and a book chapter, and served as associate editor for five journals, refereeing nearly 20 papers. Dr. Hill is Program Director of the graduate-level Test and Evaluation Certificate program, and also led initiatives, later adopted AFIT Graduate School-wide, which attracted a record number of civilian masters and PhD students to the Department of Operational Sciences during the award period.
